Amaroo
Primary School is involved in numerous Programs. These are either DET or
community based, or driven by other agencies or organisations. All of these
initiatives aim to improve the outcomes for our students and are underpinned
by the Principles of Teaching & Learning. Key programs are listed below.
Getting it Right—Numeracy:
A school based Specialist assists teachers to develop skills. This is
impacting positively.
Physical Education:
A specialist PE program for Pre-Primary to Year 7 successfully develops both
individual skills and great teamwork. Amaroo has been highly successful in
interschool competitions.
Music:
A specialist music program provides a solid base for all
children Pre-Primary—Year 7 with an instrumental option for years 6 & 7.
Italian:
A specialist Italian program for students in years 4—7.
ICT:
All students and staff have access to a networked system
which is used to support learning in all areas.
Aboriginal Education:
Koolbardi Aboriginal
Pre-School combined with several other specific programs
effectively support our Aboriginal Children.
Environmental Education:
Our highly successful
environmental program includes recycling, ring pull collection, worm farming
and involvement in local environmental issues.
Breakfast Program:
A program supported by
Foodbank provides a free breakfast for children. This ensures that they are
at their best for optimum learning.
“You Can Do It”—Program Achieve:
A program
which is run across the school with a particular focus in Years K-3 and helps children develop the keys to success.
The Virtues Program:
A program that is run across the school with a particular focus in Years 4-7
designed to foster character in the students.
The Smith Family:
This huge non profit
organisation supports our school and community through “Learning For Life”
Scholarships to eligible families.
People First:
An organisation which
supports our school through providing highly successful school based
