At
Amaroo
Primary School, our ‘Pastoral Care’ programs are inclusive of students,
staff and the wider school community. Our philosophy that ‘No one is left
behind’ provides a foundation for a diverse range of programs and
processes to support the social and emotional well being of the entire
school community. We have committed extensive human and financial resources
to ensuring the needs of all children are met, primarily through our
Pastoral Care Deputy and Inclusivity Coordinator. Our school Chaplain and
Psychologist also support many children in a large variety of ways.
Amaroo
Primary School has developed, and continues to refine an extensive and
effective whole school behaviour management program, based on the five
values of the Curriculum Framework. In addition to a large range of
classroom programs, we have been implementing the ‘You Can Do It’ program
across our middle primary over the last three years, and have extended this
into all Year levels in 2006. This will foster a strong school ethos based
on the ‘Foundations to Success’. Many children have worked with the ‘People
First’ and other protective behaviour programs. To help ‘bullyproof’ our
students the whole school from pre-primary to year 7 are involved in the BUZ
(Build Up Zone) program. Last year, Terry O’Connell from ‘Real Justice’
worked with many students and staff which has provided a solid framework to
enable our school to effectively adopt ‘Restorative Justice Practices’ .
Our school works extremely hard at developing and maintaining strong
relationships, support networks and appropriate school experiences to ensure
that ‘No one is left behind’.
